Pool in Welch to open with modifications

WELCH, WV (WOAY) – The Linkous Park Pool in Welch hopes to open this weekend.

Staff will take temperatures of guests and ask a series of questions to make sure no one is experiencing symptoms of the virus. The pool must pass an inspection before opening, so if they cannot be inspected today, they may not open until Monday.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the children that came last year and seeing them have a good time,” said lifeguard Sarah Peery. “A lot in the community isn’t open right now and it’s really difficult for a lot of people and they’re not handling it well. This is a safe place that they can come and enjoy themselves without many restrictions, but we’re making sure to keep it safe for everybody.”

Hand sanitizer is available and the bathrooms will be cleaned regularly throughout the day.
