If you stepped outside this morning, you may have noticed it’s a few degrees warmer than yesterday. However, the crisp fall chill is still in the air, reminding us that cooler months are just around the corner. For today, expect a taste of summer as highs climb into the upper 70s—slightly above average for this time of year across Southern West Virginia.
This warm trend will stick around for the next few days, with temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 70s. By Thursday, though, we’ll see a slight cool down, with highs dipping to the low 70s by Friday.
Our next chance of rain arrives on Friday, thanks to Tropical Cyclone Francine. Confidence is growing that at least some rain will make its way into the region, but we’ve removed any rain chances for the weekend.
Fire weather remains a concern due to the ongoing dry conditions, so it’s important to avoid outdoor activities that could accidentally start a fire. I hope you get outside to enjoy the weather this week, but be mindful of the heightened risk of fires.
