Peaceful protest set to take place in Hinton despite vandalism rumors

HINTON, WV (WOAY) – A peaceful protest is set to take place tonight in Hinton.

Even though the protest is expected to be peaceful, rumors have circulated across the internet of possible plans of vandalism. Mayor Joe Blankenship says despite rumors, he believes the protests will be peaceful.

“We have heard about rumors here at the City Hall. I have relayed that message to my chief of police and he’s a professional in that and knows how handle that and I hope it is just rumors,” said Mayor Joe Blankenship.

Blankenship wants to remind the public that law enforcement will be at the protest.
