Pattern Offers Respite From Flooding, Snow and Cold

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Mother Nature is finally giving us a break from the recent uptick of significant weather, but how long will it last?

OVERVIEW: High pressure will produce a string of dry weather through Thursday, then rain showers are expected ahead of a cold front. The overall large-scale pattern doesn’t favor heavy rain rates and flooding though. The next front will push in this weekend with another round of rain. Again, limited moisture with the system means no flooding threat.

When will you feel aches and pains? You will probably feel an additional ache or two as the pressure lowers in advance of a dry front early Tuesday. A few aches are expected as the pressure drops Wednesday into early Thursday and then early this weekend.

LOOKING AHEAD: The next likely moisture-logged system that has potential to produce flooding would be March 5-6. This will be followed by a pattern change that will bring a sustainable colder period of weather to the region.
