Patriots’ Young Optimistic About Summer Practice Period

WOAY – Hear from Midland Trail softball head coach Candace Young, following Tuesday’s decision by the WVSSAC to cancel the remainder of the seasons for high school sports in the 2019-2020 school year.

Young says it’s been tough to accept the fact that the high school softball season ended before games were officially played, but she’s also making plans to honor the six-player senior class. Young is hopeful that the three-week summer period will still occur in several months, and that will give the Lady Patriots a chance to hold a Senior Night, for instance.

Midland Trail was one of several area baseball/softball teams that was anticipating a big year on the diamond, and they were able to hold several practices before the season was put on hold and eventually canceled.

Young also says it will be important for the players who come back for the 2021 season to be motivated and continue the progress the program has made in recent seasons.
