Over 1 million adult portable bed rails recalled due to serious entrapment and asphyxia hazards

Oak Hill, WV (CNN)- More than one million portable bed rails are under recall after two deaths were reported.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall involves two models of bed assist bar adult portable bed rails.

The products pose a risk of entrapment and asphyxia as users can become trapped within the rail or between the rail and mattress.

Two deaths have been reported, one in 2019 and one in 2023.

The rails were sold online through the Medline website and retailers like Amazon, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens.

Anyone with the recalled item should stop using it immediately and contact Medline for a refund.
