Operation Backpack Needs You

(WOAY) – Operation Backpack, a non-profit community initiative in Southern West Virginia, has been supporting students in need from four different counties with full backpacks for the past 25 years.

The program, supported by a network of local churches and community volunteers, has grown significantly over the years, but this success has brought new challenges.

Currently, Operation Backpack is in urgent need of volunteers to help prepare a growing volume of school supplies for distribution.

Operation Backpack partners with schools and counselors to ensure that the supplies reach students who truly need them, focusing on making sure every donation is used effectively and appropriately.

Additionally, they are seeking donations to support the upcoming school year. Essential items needed include spiral notebooks, notebook paper, #2 pencils, highlighters, and backpacks of all sizes, from elementary to high school.

For those looking to contribute or volunteer, you can find a list of donation sites on Operation Backpack’s Facebook page.

Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 710 Mabscott, WV 25871.

Two donation sites are also holding drawings for prizes as a thank-you for your generosity.

Your support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local students.
