Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – An 84-year-old man died while fighting a fire in Mercer County.
According to a press release from the Office of The WV State Fire Marshal, the incident occurred on Monday, February 3rd at a residence in the Bluewell area. The man was burning brush when the fire got out of control, and he collapsed while trying to put it out.
Investigators with the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office and the Division of Forestry were called to the scene to investigate. The victim was taken to the WV Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification.
