One Death Reported In West Virginia Due To Hepatitis A

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOAY)- West Virginia health officials announced that the states first death linked to Hepatitis A outbreak was a 33-year-old Kanawha County Resident.

 

Health officials also say that the resident had significant health issues that contributed to the death.

 

At a news conference on Thursday in Charleston, Dr. Rahul Gupta shared that the person had been hospitalized since early April and died Wednesday night, but multiple factors led to his passing.

 

The name and the official cause of the death have not yet been released.

 

 

West Virginia Bureau For Public Health reports that there have been more than 100 cases of Hepatitis A in eight counties of West Virginia since May 18th.
