Officer involved shooting leaves suspect dead

RALEIGH COUNTY (WOAY) – Around 9 am on Friday, November 29th the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office was sent to a residence in Breckenridge Village, Bolt, after a 911 call.

The call reported a mentally disturbed person with a gun.

When police arrived the first deputy was immediately shot at and hit. The deputy returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a non life-threating gunshot wound.

The accident is being investigated by both the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the West Virginia State Police.

The names of those involved have not been shared yet, and Newswatch will continue to track this story.
