October Starts Dry; Rain Next Week

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): October is upon us, and it starts off on a very dry note. High pressure from Canada is sweeping down into the northeast today, which will keep any moisture to our south. While we need the rain, it will be an absolutely gorgeous day with mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures after a foggy morning. The morning commute is iffy thanks to that fog, so make sure to drive slowly and use your low beams in the dense stuff. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast:

The high pressure will come down into our area tomorrow, giving us a bit of a cooldown. It won’t be chilly, more comfortable than anything, but we’ll return to the mid-70s after high pressure leaves the region. The skies will stay mostly sunny with not a drop of rain expected across the area for the rest of the work week. High pressure will slowly slink away starting on Friday, but its influence will be lasting across the region. Here’s a look:

Entering the weekend, temperatures will rise back into the mid-70s with dry weather persisting. Brush fire risk will be elevated as we enter fire season. Make sure to follow the yearly fire ban for autumn fire season and to put out any fires made after 5 PM before 5 AM the next morning. The dry weather lasts into next work week before some rain finally comes through on Tuesday. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
