Oceana Mayor proposes training for operating water systems

OCEANA, WV (WOAY) – Another important discussion in the Wyoming County Commission meeting today centered around educating water operators in the Oceana.

There are multiple water projects going on throughout the County, but there’s a shortage of trained operators. Oceana Mayor Tom Evans pitched a certification course program to the commission this morning.

“In our case, the town of Oceana, we just finished up our sewer project,” Evans said. “So we should be good for 30-40 years. Now, we’re getting ready to go into the second phase of our water project. Once we get that completed, we’re going to correct a lot of problems with the leaks and everything throughout the system.”

Evans is hoping that the County Commission will assist in the first 2,000 hours of the training process.
