Oak Hill police: man in custody after Thursday evening shooting

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- One person is in custody and another is injured after a shooting on Johnson Street last night.

A press release from the Oak Hill Police Department says that Brian Kinley, of Oak Hill, is facing attempted second-degree murder and malicious wounding charges.

The shooting happened at approximately 6 p.m. last night. According to the press release, the victim said Kinley shot him in the hand and shoulder before fleeing the scene to another house.

Police say a woman brought Kinley back to the scene, but he did not have the gun at that time.

A Fayette County sheriff’s K-9 was brought in to assist the Oak Hill Police Department in the search for the weapon. It was located a short time later.

Kinley was booked into Southern Regional Jail, and his bond was set at $500,000. He has not entered it at this time.
