Oak Hill man is facing felony charges in connection to alleged copper theft

Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – An Oak Hill man is facing felony charges in connection to alleged copper theft.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen, Lawson Shaffer was pulled over by a deputy last week for multiple violations.

During the stop, the deputy saw copper wire inside the car. Investigators believe it is tied to the copper thefts along Route 61.

Shaffer has been charged with felony transferring and receiving stolen goods and felony conspiracy. He’s being held on a $60,000 bond.
