OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – This evening, a group of Oak Hill High School band members held a celebration rally after Governor Jim Justice reversed the decision to not allow bands to participate during the upcoming football season.
Originally band members planned to rally against not being allowed to march, but hours before the rally, Gov. Jim Justice announced that marching bands will be able to perform. Students decided to continue with the rally to thank everyone for their support.
“We’re just here to say thank you, and that we appreciate everyone who fought for us and signed the petition. It’s a big thank you, It means the world that the community fought for us, especially for us seniors,” said band member Madison Giles.
All band members who participated during today’s rally said they are thankful and look forward to the upcoming season.
