OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Rhual and Billie Dunlap have been happily married for 59 years. The two have been inseparable going back as far as the second grade.
“She is a very good woman, a Godly woman, caring and very good helpmate,” said Rhual Dunlap.
Their love has stood the test of time. After dating throughout high school, Billie moved to Washington, D.C., for college. After Billie returned home to West Virginia, the two reunited and got married at the age of 20, shortly after that Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap had two children.
“She has helped me a lot in my life, I was a dumb hillbilly in a coal town, I didn’t know how to get out of bed hardly,” said Rhual Dunlap.
When asked what was their secret to a long-lasting marriage, without a doubt, they agreed on one thing.
“One thing that I would tell other young couples or anyone that got a marriage that doesn’t seem to be going right, the first thing of all is to seek the Lord, and you’re never be sorry,” said Billie Dunlap.
The Dunlaps say they hope their story can serve as an inspiration to other married couples.
