Oak Hill City Council approves drive-in movies at the municipal parking lot

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – The Oak Hill City Council approved the use of the city’s municipal parking lot for drive-in movies.

Due to the pandemic movies at the amphitheater have not been an option, so members of Destination Downtown want to hold drive-in movies at the municipal parking lot. Cars would be spaced out, and there would be no concessions, but this would allow the public a way to watch movies in a theater typesetting safely.

“So, since we’ve not been able to have movies at the amphitheater, we’ve been brainstorming and trying to figure out how we can do this in a safe fashion without putting anyone at risk,” said Destination Downtown member Christa Hodges. “We decided to look at the municipal parking lot as a great solution to that because there are 76 spaces so we can space a parking space between each car and we won’t make concessions. This way, we can do movies in a safe form without being in danger with COVID going on.”

Right now, there is still more planning to be done on when these movies will take place.
