Oak Hill City Council applies to become a Tree City

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY ) – Oak Hill City Council has applied to be recognized as a Tree City.

The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees.

“The city of Oak Hill addresses our city parks; there were diseased Oak trees that needed to be removed and replaced. We have a dog park that doesn’t have shade trees at this time that will need trees and in several other areas. We also have other areas where the trees are too large, so we have problems with trees in Oak Hill, and the City Council would like to see them addressed,” Oak Hill City Manager, Bill Hannabass said.

Hannabass says he believes the Tree City recognition will be great for the city.
