West Virginia (WOAY)- The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority is gearing up for a big year in advocacy.
During its August 25 board meeting, the NRGRDA officially adopted its 2026 state legislative priorities. Â
Executive Director Jina Belcher says these priorities are more than just policy; they represent years of progress and a deep commitment to the future of Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh, and Summers counties.Â
The six key focus areas include boosting investment in economic development, securing reliable revenue for local governments, and expanding critical infrastructure, such as broadband and water systems. Â
The board also emphasized the need for strategic land reuse, attainable workforce housing, and access to affordable childcare.Â
Belcher says the momentum is real and this plan lays the groundwork for meaningful, measurable outcomes in the upcoming legislative session.Â
The NRGRDA board, comprising local government, business, and community leaders, will release more detailed policy recommendations in the coming months.Â
