No marching bands permitted for first HS football games

WOAY – The WVSSAC, along with medical health professionals, have made the decision that no marching bands will be allowed to perform at the first high school football games of the season.

A WVSSAC official confirmed to WOAY Sports the decision could be re-visited after Week 2.

Dance teams would also not be allowed to perform, as it is not a WVSSAC-sanctioned activity. Cheerleaders are still able to attend football games for the moment, but only immediate family members would be able to attend as spectators based on whether the county is “green” or “yellow.”

There has been one change to the area high school football schedule; Greenbrier West will now host Westside in Week 2 (September 11) instead of James Monroe. Most area teams would begin the season September 4.
