Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – Deputies arrested nine people in a warrant sweep in eastern Kanawha County last week.
The warrant operation resulted in arrests on multiple charges for felony and misdemeanor offenses, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the warrant sweep primarily focused on the Chesapeake area due to the town not having a full-time police officer on duty. Town officials are currently seeking a qualified applicant to fill the vacant law enforcement officer position.
“The goal of this sweep was to demonstrate to the residents of Chesapeake and surrounding communities that law and order will not be neglected,” Kanawha County Sheriff Joe Crawford said in the news release. “Our deputies will continue to maintain a strong presence and hold individuals accountable for their actions.”
The identities or specific charges of those arrested were not released.
