Nicholas County Schools confirm positive COVID-19 case from bus 12

NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOAY) –  Today, working with the local health department, Nicholas County Schools has confirmed one positive case on Bus 12.

After conducting the necessary contact tracing and investigations, it was determined that students who rode bus 12 on September 10 at any time, or on September 11 for morning run have been exposed to a positive Covid-19 case. All students who rode Bus 12 during those times must quarantine up to and including Friday, September 25, 2020, and must contact the Nicholas County Health Department at 304-872-5329.

The confirmed case did not result from infection transmissions within the Nicholas County Schools.  In accordance with privacy laws, information specific to these cases will not be released publicly, however, details are being made available to keep the community informed of the transmission of COVID-19 locally.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, everyone is urged to follow best health practices as issued by the Governor’s Executive Orders and outlined by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) and the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) guidance. This includes wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing, hand washing, and cleaning protocols regularly.
