Nicholas County Schools announces transportation changes for secondary students who attend school outside of their designated attendance area

Nicholas County, WV (WOAY) Nicholas County schools are clarifying recent transportation changes for middle and high school students who choose to attend a school outside their designated attendance area.

Students can still attend Nicholas County High School, Summersville Middle School, Richwood Middle or High School, regardless of where they live.

However, those students will now need to use designated pickup and drop-off locations at Gauley River or Panther Creek Elementary.

Families will be responsible for getting students to those locations in the morning, where they will board a bus to Richwood or Summersville.

In the afternoon, students will be returned to the same locations, where parents or guardians will need to pick them up.

The change only applies to secondary students attending a school outside their designated attendance area.

Students attending their designated school will continue using their regular bus routes.

Nicholas County Schools say the change is intended to address route inefficiencies while providing safe and efficient transportation.
