Summersville, WV (WOAY) – A Nicholas County man was convicted and sentenced to jail Tuesday February 26, 2025, in a deadly accident.
42-year-old Dusty Delaney was convicted of negligent homicide and sentenced to the maximum penalty of one year in jail following a deadly Nicholas County crash that happened in January, according to a press release from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, Delaney was involved in a crash at the intersection of U.S. 119 and Rt. 129 near Mt. Nebo on Jan. 24, 2025, that killed 22-year-old Haley Short-Phares.
Delaney was convicted and sentenced in Nicholas County magistrate court.
