UPDATE: The first-degree murder charge against James Pileggi has been dismissed. According to magistrate court records, he is now facing charges of concealment of a deceased body and conspiracy against the state.Â

Nicholas County, WV (WOAY) – A Nicholas County man was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder.
According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, 60-year-old James E. Pileggi, of Mount Lookout, was charged with First-Degree Murder.
The West Virginia State Police took a missing person report on the evening of Friday, February 14, 2025 about a 44-year-old white man from the Summersville area of Nicholas County.
While investigating the missing person report troopers found that a shooting occurred at the home of James Pileggi located at Mount Lookout, WV. Troopers then located the body of the missing person near Tioga, WV around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Â
The West Virginia State Police SRT and Crime Scene Team members were called in to assisted with evidence collection. The body of the victim was taken Summersville Memorial Hospital by ambulance to be examined by a Medical Examiner.
The investigation is ongoing by West Virginia State Police.
