Nicholas County man charged with first degree murder in connection with fatal shooting

Mount Lookout, WV (WOAY)- A Nicholas County man is facing murder charges in connection to a fatal shooting. 

According to a statement from West Virginia State Police, Trooper L.L. Cox filed a missing persons report for a 44-year-old Summersville man on Friday, February 14. 

Investigation into the man’s whereabouts led to authorities discovering a shooting had taken place at a Mount Lookout residence. 

On Saturday, February 15, police discovered the missing man’s deceased body near Tioga and transported his remains to Summersville Memorial Hospital to be viewed by a medical examiner. 

The victim’s identity has not yet been shared publicly. 

Authorities arrested 60-year-old James E. Pileggi of Mount Lookout, charging him with first-degree murder.
