Nicholas County, WV (WOAY) – A fatal crash involving a Division of Highways dump truck in Nicholas County is under investigation.
According to a media release from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, 54-year-old Ronald J. Carelli, of Texas, was killed and a female passenger was injured in the wreck.
Nicholas County Deputies responded to the accident around on Monday morning at the intersection of Route 19 and Route 41 in Mount Nebo, WV. According to the media release, a driver traveling southbound on US Route 19 hit a WV DOH truck at a stoplight.
Deputies said both of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to Summersville Regional Medical Center where Carelli died of his injuries and the passenger was flown to CAMC General Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Investigators said the DOH worker was not injured in the crash.
