NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOAY) -The Nicholas County Commission President, through the authority given by the Local State of Emergency that was declared on March 20, 2020, hereby suspends general public access to the Nicholas County Courthouse and Annex beginning Tuesday March 24, 2020, and continuing through Friday April 3, 2020, unless conditions change.
All offices are being asked to work with the public allowing them to drop off or pick up records and documents, and to perform any other services not available online, by phone or by mail.
The courthouse doors will remain locked and entrance will only be granted to those who have called ahead and have been offered an appointment by a specific office, at that given time. Travel, general health, or other questions may be asked of the individual requesting entrance before they are granted access to government facilities. This is part of our effort of keep our citizens and staff safe. All others are required to call the office that you are wishing to speak with, and then courthouse staff will first attempt to satisfy your needs over the phone, electronically, or by mail. Please be patient with staff as they work even harder to satisfy your needs of county services, while this Commission works to protect the health and well-being of our staff and the citizens of Nicholas County.
Please note that guidance and recommendations given by the State and Federal governments is continually changing, and that the Nicholas County Commission is regularly monitoring this situation and will act accordingly.
