Nice weather this week

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – It was a nearly perfect day around the region, with wall-to-wall sunshine and pleasant temperatures. It was a bit below normal this morning, but by this afternoon it wound up being back to above normal, with a larger-than-normal spread between the two thanks to dry air that has settled in around the region.

The cold air that invaded the region after last week’s storm is moderating, and temperatures tonight will reflect that. Instead of sub-freezing lows and wintry precipitation in the high elevations that we saw Saturday morning, we’ll see lows in the upper 30s under clear skies.

As the day goes on tomorrow, we’ll be able to swap the jacket out for long sleeves. Highs will be in similar territory to where they were today, the mid-60s, close to the seasonal normal. Winds will be light and out of the north. Once again, I expect a completely sunny day. I usually put in a few clouds, but with high pressure to our north keeping it dry throughout the atmosphere, I’m keeping it clear. The dry air also allows temperatures to warm up quickly after the cool start. The reverse process will be in effect tomorrow night, but the gradual warm-up will continue as temperatures will only drop to the lower 40s on average.
The rest of the forecast will be similar to what we’ll see through the next couple of days: plenty of sunshine and temperatures that will hold steady in the upper 30s and lower 40s for lows and in the lower to mid-60s for highs. The weather for our football Friday games looks very good. A big storm is expected to develop off the Atlantic coast, so that may affect travel plans, but outside of that, the weather remains quiet in the eastern part of the nation this week.
