OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) –Â It is a much calmer day today around the region, as the front that gave us the strong to severe storms yesterday is well off to our south over the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama. There were a few showers to our northeast today, but despite some dark clouds at times, very few raindrops were able to make it to the ground, not surprising given humidity levels in the 50-60% neighborhood.
Tonight, the dry air will continue to flow into the region, and skies will clear. Temperatures will drop into the mid-50s.
Tomorrow will be a great day around the area with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid-70s. The dry air will continue to hold sway, and there will be sunny skies all around the area all day long. The nice weather will last for another day with a slight warm-up on Friday. Highs will rise to the lower 80s as we end the traditional work week.
As we go into the weekend, the warming trend continues, but we pick up a chance for showers and storms as another low-pressure center approaches from the west. It’s the first of two lows that will impact our weather during the back half of the forecast. The first low will produce chances for rain on Saturday night and Sunday.
A second system moving in from the northwest follows hard on the heels of the first and will bring chances for rain during the last few days of the forecast.
Despite the cloud cover, temperatures will stay warm as the upper-air pattern will keep almost the entire nation warmer than normal during the 6-to-10-day period.
