Nice again today, even nicer tomorrow

Tomorrow will be another nice day, and with the flow beginning to shift around to the south and southwest, it will be slightly warmer as well. Highs will wind up in the lower to mid-80s.

The sun will be out, and with the dry air in place, if you plan to be out, don’t forget the sunscreen and to hydrate. Tomorrow night, there will be more clouds around and temperatures will be slightly warmer as we start the weekend.

The weekend itself will start nicely, but as Saturday goes on, a chance for showers and storms will return to the forecast as a low-pressure center approaches from the west.

With the return of a southerly flow, there will be good amounts of moisture for the storms to work with, so the rain could be heavy at times. That’s especially true on Sunday as the low moves closer to our area.

Highs during the weekend will remain in the upper 70s and lower 80s, a bit cooler than they will be tomorrow thanks to additional cloud cover. It’s the lows that will be affected more than the highs; they’ll be back in summertime mode in the mid-60s.

The chance for rain continues through the rest of the extended forecast, as well as another system approaches the region from the northwest. There won’t be much lag time between the two systems, so the rain chances stay elevated through the end of the forecast period – generally around 60% each day. By the time the extended forecast is over, rainfall amounts will be high in some areas. We’ll have to watch for the potential for flooding, but on the positive side, we should be able to nearly eliminate the drought.

As for temperatures, despite the cloud cover, we’ll be warmer than normal throughout, as the cool air remains bottled up over Canada.
