OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- Newswatch’s Weekend Anchor Serena Davanzo signs off on her final newscast on WOAY.
“Tonight is my last time sitting here at the desk giving you your local news here in the Mountain State. I started here back in July 2023, my first job out of college, with no previous anchoring experience, and you all welcomed me with open arms.
I have had the opportunity to cover a variety of things in my time here from the desk and in the field. From both attempts on President Trump’s life, covering Bridge Day with a full special report, Biden stepping down, local election coverage, a U-Haul crashing into the Charleston Humane Society, crime cases, and so much more.
I was honored, as a lifelong supporter of the arts, to become the voice of the arts and entertainment scene here in southern West Virginia. From our high schools’ theatre and band programs, to local films here.
I have truly enjoyed getting to know you all here in West Virginia, and you all will hold a special place in my heart forever.”
