Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – Fayetteville is welcoming a new welcome center, and it suits the town just fine, as it has become a major travel destination being located right on the edge of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
The new space is located right next to the Fayetteville post office and is already seeing more foot traffic. There is also more parking available.
One unexpected outcome of the move is the sense of community it has fostered. With rocking chairs on the front porch, visitors are inclined to listen and share stories, both local and distant.
Of course, new buildings take a team, and there was support from many sources to make the new welcome center a reality.
There were many partners involved, including the generosity of Charlie Wendell, a private donor.
