New television series features DNA company with West Virginia roots

WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY) – A new television series from ABC is featuring Parabon Nanolabs,  a DNA company that has roots in West Virginia.

Parabon Nanolabs was co-founded by West Virginia native Steve Armentrout. The company focuses on using DNA analysis to do a number of things, including solving cold cases. The company was approached by ABC to make a series around the concept.

“ABC worked with us to create a series around the technology and importantly, the lead genetic genealogist at Parabon, CeCe Moore. The show is called The Genetic Detective and it features six different cases that we’ve worked on recently,” Armentrout said.

The Genetic Detective is premiering May 26 at 10 P.M. on ABC.
