New River Health gives update on operation due to coronavirus

SCARBRO, WV (WOAY) – New River Health (NRH) medical sitesĀ are open at Fayetteville, Scarbro and Sophia to care for the needs of our patients and community. NRH Whipple has beenĀ consolidated into the Scarbro site.

Anyone who enters a site is screened for COVID-19 symptoms and their temperature is checked. If the person has a temperatureĀ of 100, s/he will not be permitted into the site. At Scarbro s/he will be taken to the mobile unit parked at Scarbro for further triage and care.Ā Other sites have triage space as well.

NRH Pharmacies will beĀ filling prescriptions forĀ 30 days at this point with emergency exceptions to not deplete stock of essential medications. NRH Fayetteville Pharmacy is open to the public; Scarbro and Sophia Pharmacies are open to NRH patients only.

NRH school health centers are all closed until the schools are re-opened. If you or your child is a patient of one of our school health centers (Summersville, Oak Hill High, Oak Hill Middle, New River Primary, New River Intermediate, Fayetteville PreK-8, Valley PreK-8, Coal City Elementary, Independence Middle, and Independence High School), call 304-469-2905. NRH will make certain your needs are met.

ā€œPlease call first before coming to any of our sites,ā€ said NRH CEO John Schultz. ā€œWe will be implementing tele-medicine for patients who have internet access, and seeing medical patients who have been screened. If you or your loved ones are ill, please call us for care.

ā€œAs we all are dealing with new challenges, our best advice is to stay home, wash your hands often, clean common surfaces thoroughly, and avoid groups of people,ā€ said Schultz.

NRH is not currently collecting tests on site, but can refer patients who meet testing criteria to aĀ local partner for appropriate testing.

If you have questions, please call 304-469-2905 or access you patient portal, which is shown as a link on our website newriverhealthwv.com.
