Hinton, WV (WOAY) The City of Hinton and the New River Conservancy are inviting the public to meet the crew behind the New River Expedition Experience.
A Meet and Greet will be held Friday, July 17, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Historic Freight Depot in Hinton.
The crew will be about 200 miles into their journey and preparing for a New River cleanup the following day.
The group is traveling from the headwaters of the New River in North Carolina, through Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, and on to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
Along the journey, the crew has explored the natural communities that define this historic river, and connected with residents throughout the New River Valley.
Visitors can learn more about the New River Water Trail, chat with expedition members, become a conservancy member, and sign up to volunteer for Saturday’s river cleanup from Hinton to Camp Brookside.
