Beckley, WV (WOAY) New River Community and Technical College is announcing the upcoming Annual New River CTC Invitational, set for January 5-10 at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
Organizers state the week-long high school basketball tournament is shaping up to be one of the most competitive yet, featuring preseason state-ranked teams from across the Mountain State.
The Invitational has become New River CTC’s signature event and remains the college’s largest annual fundraiser.
The invitational also gives families and student-athletes a chance to learn about the school’s educational and workforce opportunities.
Teams from Nitro, Shady Spring, Westside, James Monroe, Greater Beckley Christian, Summit Christian Academy, Man, University, Huntington, Martinsburg, and Woodrow Wilson will play throughout the week.
Several local and regional teams, including Liberty, Independence, Princeton, Summers County, Greenbrier East, and Greenbrier West, will also be lacing up their sneakers and hitting the court.
The Invitational will include a Special Olympics basketball exhibition on Saturday, January 10, featuring teams from Raleigh and Fayette counties.
