New retro video game and toy store opening soon in Beckley

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A new retro video game and toy store is opening up soon.

Gamester’s Paradise buys and sells used video games, toys, comic books and any type of merchandise in between. They also plan to have casual gaming setups that patrons can use at any time. It’s a niche addition to the Beckley area, and the owner Shannon Ingram says he’s happy to provide a new social outlet for the community.

“I think people are really searching for new social outlets right now because of all the guidelines we have to follow. So I’m happy I can provide a new way for people to do that.”

Over the weekend they invited the community to visit their store early to sell any old merchandise they had. Ingram says it was a way for them to stock up on inventory before they open next week. Once they open, they plan to sell all kinds of merchandise and provide a social scene.

“There’s gonna be books, retro toys, retro video games. I’ll be hosting gaming tournaments and contests. And you can just come in and casually play retro video games.”

To keep patrons safe, they plan to distance space out in the store and at gaming setups, and they’re sanitizing and cleaning stations in between uses.

Gamester’s Paradise is part of the new Antique Mall opening September 1 at 268 George Street in Beckley.
