New produce store that sources from local farmers opens in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, WV (WOAY) – A new produce store called Hillbilly Farms just held a grand opening.

The store offers a variety of fruits and vegetables and gets all of their goods specifically from local farmers. The owner of the store Doug Lusk said he was inspired to open his own produce store after being appalled by the high prices for organic produce at other stores.

“Every time we’d go into a grocery store we would see this organic food and the prices were outrageous to us. So we figured why not get together with some local farmers and create a produce store at a cheaper price,” Lusk said.

The store is located at 1926 Coal heritage Road in Bluefield and is open 8 A.M. to 8 P.M., Monday through Saturday.
