Morgantown, WV (WOAY) – A WVU tradition will take place in Morgantown this week.
On Friday, April 4, 2025, Braden Adkins will officially pass the musket to and Mountaineer mascot responsibilities to Cade Kincaid during the Passing of the Rifle Ceremony.
The reception will be held at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair, Vandalia Lounge, followed by the program at 6 p.m. in the Gluck Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.
Former Mountaineer Mascot’s Brandon Flower (1998-99), Timmy Eads (2019-20), Michael Garcia (2014-15) and Mary Roush (2022-23) will be speakers at the ceremonial event.
Parking will be available free of charge after 4 p.m. on the upper level of the Mountainlair parking garage.
Kincaid will begin his term as the Mountaineer mascot on Saturday (April 5) at the Gold-Blue Spring Showcase at Milan Puskar Stadium.
