HINTON, WV (WOAY) – Thanks to a group called Wild, Wonderful, and Healthy Summers County, a new community playground and adult exercise trail are in the works in Summers County.
The City council and the Summers County Commission have approved a grant of three thousand dollars each to build the playground. The Southern Appalachian Folk Life Center has also agreed to supply the labor through their work camps.
“It feels great, we have been working on this for two years. It is really good to know that we had the support from the County Commission and City council,” said community organizer Shalom Tazewell.
Currently, there is no official location for the playground, but the committee hopes to break ground next year.
