WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WOAY) – A new brewery is set to open next year in downtown White Sulphur Springs. local entrepreneur, Clay Elkins and his business partners are opening Big Draft Brewing in Spring of 2021.
“This is going to be a neighborhood brewery, you don’t see neighborhood breweries anymore. Back in the day every town had its own brewery. You go there and caught up on your daily gossip and get your beer, it’s going to be a friend atmosphere,” said Elkins.
Along with the brewery, the group has been purchasing vacant properties and turning them into businesses to help build up the area.
“It’s really exciting, I mean all these small towns in Southern West Virginia, and in West Virginia in general, need more places for people to work and for people to go to. Tourism is one of the biggest drives in West Virginia and anyway we can get more people to come here and keeping coming back is what we need,” said Elkins
According to Elkins a brewery is just what downtown White Sulphur Springs needs.
“This will make it a one stop destination, when they come to White Sulphur they can go fishing, four wheeling, and mountain biking and then come in and have something to drink with ice cream,” said Elkins.
Big Draft Brewing will be located at 687 Main Street East in White Sulphur Springs.
