Hinton, WV (WOAY) As tax season gets underway, the Hinton Area Foundation is reminding individuals and businesses that they can keep more of their tax dollars working locally through the Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP).Â
The Foundation currently has more than $23,000 in available NIP tax credits.
Donors who make qualifying contributions by March 15 can receive a West Virginia state tax credit equal to 50% of their donation, helping reduce future tax liability while supporting the Hinton area.Â
Eligible donations range from $500 to $200,000 and can be made in cash, stock, real estate, or personal property.
Contributions may support scholarship funds, the Community Impact Fund, or the Foundation’s operating endowment.Â
Donations made now apply to the 2026 tax year.
Foundation leaders stress time is limited.
Available credits after March 15Â will be reallocated to other nonprofits across the state.Â
More information is available through the Hinton Area Foundation.Â
