Nearly 2 million Midea AC units recalled for drain issue that could cause mold to grow

CNN- As summer heat approaches, we have an important air conditioner recall to inform you about.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of nearly two million window air conditioners manufactured by Midea.

The recall is due to a drainage issue, which can allow mold to grow.

The commission reports at least 152 instances of mold in the air conditioners.

It also reports 17 cases of people experiencing symptoms, including mold-related respiratory infections and allergic reactions.

The units were sold under several brand names, including Midea, Frigidaire, and Insignia.

They were sold at stores including Costco, Home Depot, and Best Buy, as well as online.

Midea is offering free repairs or refunds for the recalled units.
