Nearly 10 million pounds of meat recalled due to listeria concerns

West Virginia (WOAY)- Ready-to-eat meat producer Bruce Pac has recalled nearly 10 million pounds of meat and poultry products.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says routine testing found listeria bacteria in the food.

The affected products were shipped to restaurants and institutions nationwide.

They were produced from June 19 to October 8, so they could still be in consumers’ fridges or freezers.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness.

Symptoms of listeria infection, such as fever, muscle aches, confusion, or seizures, can manifest in up to 10 weeks.

There was another listeria outbreak connected to deli meat earlier this year.

The Boar’s Head recall has been linked to 10 deaths and 59 hospitalizations, according to the CDC.
