Neal Brown ready for new WVU football season

MORGANTOWN, WV (Neal Brown interview courtesy WVU Athletics) – Earlier this spring, Neal Brown was “cautiously optimistic” about the prospect of a 2020 season for West Virginia football.

Several months later, it appears WVU will at least have a non-conference matchup, as the Mountaineers welcome Eastern Kentucky to Morgantown on Saturday. Brown notes how the players and staff are ready for a competitive game setting as opposed to practice.

West Virginia had several nervous moments in their 2019 opener against James Madison before going on to win 20-13, giving Brown a win in his debut. The Mountaineers went 6-2 in season openers under Dana Holgorsen. Southern West Virginia is represented on the current roster by safety Jordan Dempsey (Fayetteville) and defensive lineman Sean Martin (Bluefield).

West Virginia opens Big 12 play September 26 at Oklahoma State.
