Fayetteville, WV (WOAY)- A public safety notice ahead of Bridge Day at the New River Gorge Bridge on Saturday.
The National Park Service is sharing several temporary closures and access restrictions to help keep visitors safe.
U.S. Route 19 will close at 7:00 a.m. Saturday and remain closed until 5:00 p.m.
Detours will direct northbound traffic along U.S. 60 to Route 16, and southbound traffic from Route 16 back to U.S. 60.
For sightseers, the Canyon Rim Visitor Center and Fayette Station Road will close Friday evening, and all private vehicles must be removed by that time.
Private boaters should note that beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friday, access to Fayette Station Road will be limited, and vehicles at Fayette Station will be towed after that time.
During Bridge Day itself, access to Fayette Station and Teays Landing will be exit-only.
Officials say these closures are in place to ensure public safety and support coordinated emergency response during the event.
