MU’s Knox earns Preseason Player of the Year honors

WOAY – Marshall junior running back Brenden Knox was named Conference USA’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, as voted on by the league’s 14 head football coaches.

The Columbus, Ohio native led Conference USA in 2019 with 1,387 rushing yards and recorded 11 touchdowns, and was named league MVP last year. Knox is joined by four Herd teammates on the C-USA Preseason Team: offensive lineman Cain Madden, linebacker Tavante Beckett, defensive back Nazeeh Johnson, and punt returner Talik Keaton.

Also on Tuesday, Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick announced fans would be able to attend all six of Marshall’s planned home games, albeit at limited capacity. “We worked diligently and deliberately to create a plan that will allow us to proceed safely and take care of our season ticket-holders, students, staff and visitors. We will have a minimal amount of additional tickets available, but the best way to guarantee a seat is through the purchase of season tickets,” Hamrick says.

Marshall football is slated to open the 2020 season September 5 against Eastern Kentucky.
