Multiple sentencings at FCI McDowell

McDowell County, WV (WOAY) – An inmate at FCI McDowell has been sentenced for possession of a weapon.

Last year, Demetrius McKinney was involved in a fight, and corrections staff found a handcrafted weapon made out of a piece of metal six and a half inches long in his possession.

He was sentenced to a year and a month in prison, and will begin after his current prison sentence is up.

Also at FCI McDowell, two men have pleaded guilty and a third has been sentenced in connection with separate plans to fly contraband in with drones.

Hector Luiz Gomez Dejesus and Raymond Luis Saez Aviles were both sentenced to three years of probation for trying to fly a drone with cell phones, tobacco, and marijuana into the prison in February 2024.

Arturo Gallegos pleaded guilty to helping two other men fly contraband into the prison. That also happened in February of 2024.
