MOUNT HOPE, WV (WOAY) – EMS Week is a time to recognize and appreciate the contributions of emergency medical services professionals, including EMTs and paramedics.
It’s observed from May 18 – 24, with the theme We Care, for Everyone.
Mount Hope Fire Department is recognizing its own for saving lives and improving public health.
“I love being able to help and make a difference. It’s the best feeling when you get to provide somebody care and they let you know that they appreciate it,” said Firefighter/EMT Austin Hamilton.
According to Hamilton, they see people at their worst.
“So, having somebody to be able to call is tremendously crucial,” the EMT said. “Without EMS, I think the world would be a lot different.”
The American College of Emergency Physicians, in partnership with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians sponsors this annual observance.
